After several months of planning our renovations, and meeting with various builders, we thought R&M best suited our needs. Rich understood our objectives, asked great questions, and offered to do the work at a fair price. The big question we had for Rich was could he get it all done before our baby's arrival, which, by the time we were ready to begin, was only a couple of months away. With Rich's input we finalized our plans-- a complete reconfiguration of our existing floor plan, including a new kitchen, and a new addition of two bedrooms, a bath, and a basement. We were definitely concerned that there was too much work to do before the baby, but Rich assured us it would be done.
Not only did R&M complete the job on time, they made every effort to anticipate and solve potential problems which might compromise our plan. During the construction, Rich and his crew were extremely considerate about keeping the house livable for us, and as comfortable as possible. We were impressed by how well the various contractors were coordinated so as not to waste time, and Rich solved any concerns we had as the work was progressing. The quality of the workmanship was very good, and we were particularly grateful for the input and skill of the finish carpenters. Throughout the project, the R&M team, whether it was the office staff, the excavator, or the painters, continually provided considerate and professional service. They did a great job on a tight schedule, made every effort to keep us within our budget, helped us feel comfortable through a stressful time, and provided us with the perfect space for our growing family.

In the 25 years that I have been building homes I have seldom found a contractor that I would readily recommend to any other builder or to a home owner. You are the exception. We have worked together now for over 10 years and I feel it has been my good fortune that I found you. What has been most valuable to me is your aggressive approach to time management. Your willingness to work long hours and weekends to get the job done has been a huge benefit to me. I can honestly say you have never held me up on any job.
In addition the quality of the same needs to be mentioned as well. Whether it’s the precision of level in excavating a cellar or the installation of a uniquely complicated septic system or finish grading a site with top soil, my customers, as well as myself have always been very pleased.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank-you for bringing your painting crew in to 39 Pinto Lane, Monroe this last August to help me out of a jam. When my painters couldn’t get the job done you sent a crew of 6 or 8 men in to finish a 5,500SF high end home in record time. That saved my closing date and made me look like a hero. Thanks again.
I look forward to completing the jobs you’re doing for me now and working with you in the future.
All the Best,

To whom it may concern,,
I sit here in our new home peacefully content and overwhelmed. It has been six months since the completion of our addition, and we have so much to say.
From the minute we met Rich and Jim we knew that it was a perfect fit.
Both of them are good listeners, respectful and excellent visionaries.
Not only did they take the time to be sure that we were satisfied
but that we were also very happy with each and every step of the process. We were told that the job would take twelve weeks and they stuck to their word.
My husband and I were very pleased that when it was time for our roof to come off that they waited
until sunshine was in the forecast for an extended peroid of time.
Rich and Jim are not only precise but they are also causious. This makes for a happy customer and a prosperous company. Each person that works for them respects their work, their clients and the tools and machinery that they
work with. Safety was important to us since we have a two year old, and it was important to all of them too.
I made a mistake (one of many during the process) on the type of window that I wanted over the kitchen sink. Over the weekend that it was installed I called in a panic leaving a message saying
that I made a grave mistake. Rich was at my house the next morning having the men take it out. He is not only accommodating he and his staff are compassionate. They all want to be sure that you are getting exactly what you want. They will help you bridge a gap if you are unsure of a certain step of the process and will be sure you attain your goals.
Dona is one of the office staff and is always available to speak with and helps you with the pay schedule. She is not only a delight to work with she is extremely organized. Dona helped me answer many questions that I had asked either for the first time or for the second time with grace and patience. She makes the process run smoothly.
I would highly recommend this company to anyone and everyone that I know. They have what it takes to create what you have envisioned for your space and your family. We are completely satisfied. Do not hesitate move ahead and build with this company. You will be satisfied.
Thank you for your time,

I am writing this letter to thank you for the professionalism shown by you and your staff during this past weekend’s project. Tow other companies gave us a 10 – 14 day timeline to complete this project. Your company started at 5:30pm, Friday, January 20th and completed the project by 5pm on Monday, a total of 35 ½ hours.
It was truly amazing to see your crew accomplish the demolition, new construction and repainting without a problem. Your interaction with the electrical contractors, and voice and data vendors was flawless.
Please feel free to use this letter as a reference to other customers.
On behalf of the Bigelow family and employees, we thank you for a job well done!
After seeing the beautiful Mahogany Deck and Screened porch you did for my sister and seeing the retaining wall you did for my father as well as watching the major renovations at my brother’s house across the street on a daily basis. I could see the enlargement of his house; doubling it in size which included a 2nd Story addition is why I decided to go with R&M Custom Contractors.
Words can’t express how pleased I am with my newly renovated home. Thank you for your prompt and exceptional service and workmanship. My renovation has exceeded my expectations.
I am forever grateful for all you have done and won’t hesitate to call upon you for any other future projects. I continue to give your name to all my family and friends for any of their possible projects. Thanks again Rich!
To Whom It May Concern:
May I share with you a most pleasant experience?
While backing into the garage, I smashed the right corner (not pleasant). Contacting a friend in the siding business for repair suggestions, he suggested R&M Custom Contractors.
I called and they came immediately. Extremely clean, neat, courteous workman and within hours shored up the garage.
An estimate for damage was submitted to my insurance co. and quickly approved. Within days the garage was completed including two new garage doors.
I recommend R&M Custom Contractors most highly and would not hesitate to share my experience with prospective customers.

PS… I no longer back into garages!
COMPETANT, RELIABLE, TRUSTWORTHY
I met Rich Chaffee in 1999. He was working as a subcontractor doing site work while my house was under construction. It was quickly apparent that Rich was very good at what he does. As we spoke, I developed a friendship-like relationship with him that continues to this day.
R&M Custom Constructors, LLC is a versatile company. This is a great advantage when you are trying to get a project completed. They offer painting, excavating, new construction, remodeling, repairs, maintenance, and project ideas. I have utilized all of these aspects of their company.
When it came time to build a pool house cabana, Rich was involved from the point of excavating for and pouring the foundation. His staff constructed the building, installed the roofing shingles, and installed the gutters. His carpenters did all of the interior work with precision including installing all of the sheetrock, the trim, installing all of the cabinets, and laying the tile. Then his painters put the finishing touches on both the interior and exterior. His “soup to nuts” capabilities make Rich, and R&M Custom Constructors, LLC a logical choice.
Rich has also been involved in several commercial ventures with me. He built an addition for me in Stratford, and helped me with the removal of an abandoned oil tank and septic tank at that site. He also worked on a very large excavating project in Shelton that involved a tremendous amount of blasting, and removal of material from the site.
Rich will always give you his attention, and make every effort to ensure your satisfaction. He takes pride in his work. He insists on professionalism with his staff, and that is what they deliver. If you want someone who will oversee the work that is being done to make sure that it is done right, call Rich. If you want someone who you are still talking to at the end of the project, call Rich. If you want someone who you can recommend to your friends after your project is completed call Rich.
I have worked with many builders, and R&M Custom Constructors, LLC is at the top of my list.

R&M Custom Contractors, and more specifically Richard Chaffee has been one of the most professional, conscientious and expeditious builder/contractors that I have had the pleasure of working with throughout my adult life.
Over the last ten years, I have worked with Rich on several projects at both my home and business. His work is done in a timely manner, with the work area left clean at the end of each work day and with the quality of workmanship that is rarely seen this day and age.
I have seen Rich use innovative techniques in his construction methods that not only saved money, but hastened the completion of the job.
I have recommended R&M Custom Contractors to several of my friends, who have had nothing but praise of the performance of Rich and his men. Several of those have had him back to do other projects.
R&M Custom Contractors comes with the highest recommendation that I could possible bestow upon any contractor.
Dear Rich and Guys,
This note is long overdue. We just wanted to thank you for the beautiful job you did on our home, and also the great follow up every time we called. We are all settled and it feels like we’ve lived here for years. Everyone who visits loves the house and tons of people have stopped us while we’re outside to give us compliments.
We’ve also enclosed some pictures –I know I promised them to you months ago.

Dear Rich and Marie,
Words can’t express how happy we are with our new home. Thank you for making our dream come true.
With all our gratitude and love,

I am writing to thank you for doing such a great job on our addition. I can tell you that if your company were not heading up the job, I would have thought twice about moving forward.
From start to finish it was a pleasure to work with you and your crew. Everyone was very helpful and courteous. The work area was always cleaned up at the end of the day. But most important to me was that you were always there when you said you would be. Even with the weather working against us the job was still done in a timely manner.
The finished product far exceeded what I had originally planned and with your great idea changes, it only improved the overall look. It is nice to have a contractor listen to your requests and make them happen or give you an alternative that might be even better.
I would use R&M again for any work in the future. I would also recommend them to anyone… and I have.
Not only are we happy with our addition and garage, but also the deck that you put on the back of the house and retaining wall on the side of the addition.
Again, thank you to you and your crew. I would also like to thank Donna for all her help whenever I had a question or to let me know what we needed to do next in the project.
